Brad Touchstone to be new State Representative for Lamar County

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) – Brad Touchstone, R – Hattiesburg, drew no oppositions in House District 101 to succeed Rep. Hank, Lott, R- Sumrall. Touchstone said he received a call Friday evening from the State Republican Office, which informed that he would be unopposed in this upcoming election. He said he looks forward to serving as the next State Representative and is already at work. “I attended the legislative forum this morning because I wanted to hear from other delegation members from the Pine Belt to find out what issues are important, not only for the greater Hattiesburg area, but for all of southern Mississippi,” said Touchstone. “Just like I promised when I qualified for this office, I want to continue hearing from folks in the district about what they think is important and obviously doing my part to making Lamar County a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.” Touchstone filed qualifying papers on Jan. 2 for the Aug. 15 Republican Primary. Nelson Touchstone Donates $13,000 for New K9 Unit

Members of Nelson Touchstone PLLC donated over $13,000.00 on Wednesday to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department for the purchase of a new, fully trained K9 unit. One of the Department’s long-time K9 units, “Fellow”, is soon to be retiring from service due to advanced age. The new K9 unit replacing Fellow will be a Belgian-born Malinois professionally trained out-of-state for narcotics detection, evidence recovery and suspect tracking and apprehension. Nelson Touchstone attorney Brad Touchstone said the firm was honored to be part of such an important cause. “I have worked alongside the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department the last four years as County Attorney, and I can attest to the fact that these K9 units provide an invaluable service to our community,” said Touchstone. “They serve as a deterrent to those criminals that may bring narcotics into schools and other areas exposing our youth in the community to drugs and crime.
